The Read901 Coalition
The Read901 coalition is composed of nonprofits, schools, libraries, faith leaders, families, funders, policy makers, and community members that have a commitment to ensuring all children grow up in environments that nurture reading.
Together, we can foster the next generation of lifelong readers.
Our Goal
The strategies we set as a coalition are with the intention of ensuring 100% early literacy in Shelby County. We know it’s ambitious. We know it is challenging. But we refuse to accept a margin of failure when a child’s successful future is the metric we are measuring.
Together, it is our hope that by striving for every citizen to experience liberation through literacy, we will get closer to that reality daily.
Our Approach
The coalition has adopted the Shelby County Early Literacy Plan that outlines several key strategies we can employ together to ensure a more literate community long term.
